In preparation for the beer tasting on Sunday, I had my own on Friday. The SASS is a 12 pack with 6 varieties. You do the math.
Boston Lager, Boston Ale, Summer Ale, Cherry Wheat, Hefeweizen, and Pale Ale. I enjoyed them all except the Cherry Wheat. The other father brought a 6sixer of Sam Adams Brown Ale. Which I really liked. YUM!!! We even mixed 2 of them. But I can’t remember
which beers they were. It was at the end of the evening.

Samuel Adams Welcomes Warm Weather with Full-Flavor - Seasonal Collection Features Six Distinct Craft Brews…
The brewers at Samuel Adams have put together an assortment of six styles ideal for craft beer enthusiasts to enjoy during the summer months. The new Samuel Adams Summer Styles Variety Package features three different wheat beers, a style traditionally enjoyed in the summertime. The wheat beers include Samuel Adams Summer Ale, Samuel Adams Hefeweizen, and Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat. In addition, the package includes Samuel Adams Pale Ale, a crisp American ale; the smooth but robust Samuel Adams Boston Ale, and the brewery’s classic flagship style, Samuel Adams Boston Lager.
“Craft beer drinkers crave variety and the option to enjoy different styles that complement any occasion,” said Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams beers. “With summer comes outdoor grilling and entertaining. The new Summer Styles Variety Package offers a variety of full-flavored craft beers that pair well with traditional seasonal cuisine such as barbecue, salads, and fresh fruit.”
The Samuel Adams brewers search the world for the finest ingredients for their full-flavored craft beers, and the summer seasonal, Samuel Adams Summer Ale is no exception. This crisp and spicy beer is brewed with wheat malt, lemon zest, and Grains of Paradise, a West African spice. The mix of spice and citrus pairs perfectly with summer fare like salad, grilled chicken and fish, corn on the cob, and potato salad.
Chef David Burke of New York’s renowned davidburke&donatella restaurant has created innovative recipes for aspiring backyard chefs using the variety of brews in the Samuel Adams Summer Styles Variety Package. These recipes are available at www.samueladams.com.
The Samuel Adams Summer Styles Variety Package will be available nationwide beginning in May for a suggested retail price of $13.99-$15.99 for 12-packs. Six-packs of Samuel Adams Summer Ale are available for a suggested retail price of $7.99-$8.99 and $13.99-$15.99 for 12-packs.
In addition to Samuel Adams Summer Ale, the Samuel Adams Summer Styles Variety Package includes:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager led a beer renaissance in America when it was introduced by reviving the passion for full-bodied brews that are robust and rich in character. This beautiful, deep amber lager is brewed using only the four classic ingredients and traditional brewing methods. The exclusive use of two-row barley imparts a full, smooth body, and also gives the beer a wide spectrum of malt flavor ranging from slightly sweet to caramel to slightly roasted. The Noble hops varieties, Hallertau Mittelfruh and Tettnang Tettnanger, add a wide range of floral, piney, and citrus notes, which are present from the aroma, through the flavor, to the lingering smooth finish.
Samuel Adams Boston Ale is specially brewed, fermented, and aged in the stock ale tradition, imparting bright citrus aromas and a full-bodied, robust taste. This classic American Ale was first brewed to celebrate the opening of the Boston brewery in 1988. Classic English ale hops, East Kent Goldings, and Fuggles are hand-selected and added to the beer, giving it an earthy, herbal character. Its red amber color has a slight glow from the two-row Harrington and crystal malts, which are added in generous quantities. This beer is smoother than most ales and richer than most lagers, with a round, robust taste.
Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat is a tangy, refreshing beer that is light on the palate and long on complexity. Combining Michigan cherries with a generous portion of wheat malt produces a bright, lively ale with a crisp finish. A small amount of honey enhances the natural sweetness of the fresh cherries.
Samuel Adams Hefeweizen has a crisp, fruity character with a subtle complexity and a smooth, velvety finish. This crisp, fruity wheat ale is cloudy because it is unfiltered, retaining a natural haze from the malt proteins. Bavarian Spalt Noble hops give the beer a crisp elegance that is not bitter and leaves a smooth aftertaste.
Samuel Adams Pale Ale is a distinctive and refreshing American ale brewed in the classic style with the finest English ale hops and lightly roasted specialty malts. Hand-selected Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops impart a crisp, dry finish to this flavorful ale.
THE BOSTON BEER COMPANY BACKGROUND:
The Boston Beer Company began in 1984 with a generations-old family recipe that Founder and Brewer Jim Koch uncovered in his father’s attic. After bringing the recipe to life in his kitchen, Jim brought it to bars in Boston with the belief that drinkers would appreciate a complex, full-flavored beer, brewed fresh in America. That beer was Samuel Adams Boston Lager, and it helped catalyze what became known as the American craft beer revolution.
Today, the Company brews more than 21 styles of beer. The Company uses the traditional four vessel brewing process and often takes extra steps like dry-hopping and a secondary fermentation known as krausening. It passionately pursues the development of new styles and the perfection of its classic beers by constantly searching for the world’s finest ingredients. While resurrecting traditional brewing methods, the Company has earned a reputation as a pioneer in another revolution, the “extreme beer” movement, where it seeks to challenge drinkers’ perceptions of what beer can be. The Boston Beer Company strives to elevate the image of American craft beer by entering festivals and competitions the world over, and in the past five years it has won more awards in international beer competitions than any other brewery in the world. The Company remains independent, and brewing quality beer remains its single focus. While Samuel Adams is the country’s largest-selling craft beer, it accounts for only about one-half of one percent of the U.S. beer market. For more information, please visit www.samueladams.com.
