Matiswann Returns with a Flying Dog

Well, since state employees got the day off and blind people got to drive.

I decided to look for some good beers around Jackson. I found some Snake Dog IPA on tap over at the Mellow Mushroom (They also have a beer challenge, if you can drink one of everything they have on the menu you get your name on the wall forever. I also found another of the Flying Dog assortment packs.

But, this one was different.

Now, what do you suppose was removed? I figured for sure it would be the IPA. But alas, it was the porter. Thank you BUDDHA. What was on the inside was a dog that I haven’t seen hunt yet.

Sorry it’s blurry on the backside, but I was off work all day.
Don’t get too excited, it taste like makeup.
It’s good to be back.

  • Yay! Matiswann is back!

  • I like the Woody Creek White a lot. It’s my favorite next to Horn Dog.

    Glad you are back bruvva!

  • The woody creek white taste like make up. I need some hops.

  • Well, if you’re into hoppy beers, it’s not all that surprising that you’re not into Woody Creek. Double Dog is our big-deal, hoppy (yet balanced) monster. You might have to cross some state lines to pick that up – doesn’t MS have some weird beer laws, right?

On a side note, I heard the Bell’s brewery has a Double Oberon (their witbier) and I wonder what it tastes like (and if it’s any hoppier). Apparently that’s only available in their tasting room in Kalamazoo.

  • Haven’t ran across a Flying Dog yet that I didn’t like. I’ll have to hunt this dog down and give it a try! I’m a big fan of Old Scratch (which I can’t find anywhere!) and Golden Ale which aren’t over-powering hoppy beers…so chances are I’d like this one too.

  • I would love to try the Double Dog, I assume it is a double IPA. If it’s real hoppy, sign me up. Any idea where the closet location to get my hands on this might be?

Yeah, Lar-dog, it would be right up your ally, I got it at that Kroger on the corner of Hwy 25 and Old fannin.

  • You could drive to Delta, LA. Even if they don’t have the Double Dog there you could still pick up a bunch of good beer that you can’t buy in Mississippi.

Lar, I love the Old Scratch too. Maybe if I’m not feeling too lazy I’ll swing by McDade’s this afternoon and see if they have some.

  • Are there some good beer stores in Delta? I am thinking about riding over on Saturday if anyone wants to tag along.
