“Effective today, InBev has changed its name to Anheuser-Busch InBev,” InBev said in a statement.

The new company will be one of the leading consumer products firms in the world.

Anheuser makes Budweiser - the most popular beer in the US - while InBev produces Stella Artois and Beck’s.

InBev agreed to sell its Labatt USA business and associated licenses to get approval from the US Justice Department on anti-trust grounds.

And friend of Flying Dog Siobhan dressed up like our Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale and partied the night away with us during our Flying Dog Pub Crawl down “The Gauntlet” in scenic Frederick, Maryland. Now we don’t want to presuppose anything, but you’re in for a pretty good night if you’re dressed up as anything called “Doggie Style”.

We sort of sprung this concept on you people a little late this year, but rest assured there will be a contest next year, so get started on your costume and win some shit.

I decided to look for some good beers around Jackson. I found some Snake Dog IPA on tap over at the Mellow Mushroom (They also have a beer challenge, if you can drink one of everything they have on the menu you get your name on the wall forever. I also found another of the Flying Dog assortment packs.

But, this one was different.

Now, what do you suppose was removed? I figured for sure it would be the IPA. But alas, it was the porter. Thank you BUDDHA. What was on the inside was a dog that I haven’t seen hunt yet.

Leave it to the consistently great Kona Brewing Co. to combine two of our favorites: coffee and beer. Their new Limited Release Pipeline Porter ($9/6-pack) is made from a blend of diverse premium malted barley and freshly roasted 100% Kona coffee. The result is a highly-drinkable brew with a dark appearance and ever-so-smooth finish that goes as well with a hearty meal as it does by itself.

While their lagers didn’t jump out at me, their St. Charles ESB, Wixa Weiss, Patty’s Chile Beer, Sagebrush Stout, and Monkey’s Fist IPA were all winners in my book. I had two more Wixa Wiess and several more IPAs before the night was over. I had some shepherd’s pie with the beer sampler, too. Indeed, it was tasty.

First order of business, get a Gonzo Imperial Stout.

Second order of business, get a beer sampler. My waitress, Lizzy, brought me a 6-beer sampler of their draught Flying Dog fare. It was nice indeed.
