Dress up like Dr. Gonzo, that’s what! Brad was there and spent the last day of October in style. And always remember to bring your trusty attorney with you, especially whilst spending Halloween in The Big Easy.

And friend of Flying Dog Siobhan dressed up like our Doggie Style Classic Pale Ale and partied the night away with us during our Flying Dog Pub Crawl down “The Gauntlet” in scenic Frederick, Maryland. Now we don’t want to presuppose anything, but you’re in for a pretty good night if you’re dressed up as anything called “Doggie Style”.

We sort of sprung this concept on you people a little late this year, but rest assured there will be a contest next year, so get started on your costume and win some shit.

Well, since state employees got the day off and blind people got to drive.

I decided to look for some good beers around Jackson. I found some Snake Dog IPA on tap over at the Mellow Mushroom (They also have a beer challenge, if you can drink one of everything they have on the menu you get your name on the wall forever. I also found another of the Flying Dog assortment packs.

But, this one was different.

Now, what do you suppose was removed? I figured for sure it would be the IPA. But alas, it was the porter. Thank you BUDDHA. What was on the inside was a dog that I haven’t seen hunt yet.

Sorry it’s blurry on the backside, but I was off work all day.
Don’t get too excited, it taste like makeup.
It’s good to be back.

Created by three liquor industry legends, the Last Drop is made from a variety whiskies, the youngest of which was distilled in 1960. Once all had hit the age of 12 years, they were blended and put into new sherry casks, inside which they spent the last 36 years, becoming more interesting and flavorful as the years went by. With only 1347 bottles available, you’d better make your move now to pick up this bottled history.

The first thing I ordered was a beer sampler. I was expecting to get 5 or 6 glasses, but our waiter brought me a baker’s dozen of new beers to try.

While their lagers didn’t jump out at me, their St. Charles ESB, Wixa Weiss, Patty’s Chile Beer, Sagebrush Stout, and Monkey’s Fist IPA were all winners in my book. I had two more Wixa Wiess and several more IPAs before the night was over. I had some shepherd’s pie with the beer sampler, too. Indeed, it was tasty.

I walked a short jaunt over to Blake Street Tavern near Coors Field to watch some Monday Night Football and to get some Flying Dog. I was welcomed by a hostess with a big smile, and she sat me in a semicircle of what seemed to be 4 or 5 HD TVs. NICE.

First order of business, get a Gonzo Imperial Stout.

Second order of business, get a beer sampler. My waitress, Lizzy, brought me a 6-beer sampler of their draught Flying Dog fare. It was nice indeed.
Left to right:
Doggy style pale ale
Snake dog IPA
In Heat Wheat
Old Scratch Amber Lager
Tire Bite Golden Ale
Woody Creek White

Foreground:
Green Chili Cheese Fries (waaaay too much food, I had about 8 bites). Spicy!!!!

After a little dinner and tasting, I ordered a few more IPAs and a few more Whites. It was a nice relaxing night.
